What is the difference between laser-cut and sewn MOLLE?
Laser-cut MOLLE is a stiff laminate sheet, usually 500D or 1000D Cordura bonded to a backing, with slots burned out by a laser. Sewn MOLLE is webbing stitched onto the panel in the standard PALS grid, the same 1-inch strap / 1.5-inch spacing layout used by the US Army's MOLLE system. Both accept the same pouches, because the attachment grid is identical. The construction differences change weight, stiffness, surface profile, and how the gear fails and gets repaired.
A laser slot is one clean cut in a single sheet, so there is no thread at the attachment point. The sewn webbing is a strip held by stitches and bar tacks, which add bulk but also spread load.
